If you’re like us, you’re a.) really, really cold, and b.) wondering what’s up with the big bike race coming to town this year. It used to be so far off, but now it’s 200-some days away. Time to get crackin’.
Here’s our new year’s gift to you:
The Société sounds fancy, but it’s really just a group of local businesses that want to be kept up to date on the race and understand how to make this event work for them. The bike race IS a big deal, but it;s a manageable deal. And it will be a clearer deal if you attend a Société event or read their enewsletters.
Even if the cycling world befuddles you or you’re tempted to skip town for nine days during the race (please don’t!), you’ll want to understand where and when the competitors and spectators will be here, where they’re staying, what they will do when they’re not watching the race (hopefully patronizing your business and/or learning how amazing our region is), and what fun race-adjacent things are happening (think live music, festivals, expos, fan zones, cats and dogs living together, etc.).
The friendly people at Richmond 2015 want to help you get the very most out of this experience. Their upcoming Learning Series, which begins on January 21, is designed to provide info and suggestions, as well as answer your questions. Check out the full schedule here, and while you’re at it, join the Société 2015 to receive valuable info via email between now and September.
