BHVA Ventures is proud to bring our first product, Dozer, to the marketplace late summer 2012. As new parents, we found the one thing we continuously wanted more of was time. Dozer does just that. Instead of constantly rocking baby in his/her car seat to keep baby asleep, calm, or simply quieter - let Dozer do the work for you. Dozer , a lightweight portable device, rocks baby so you have time to do other things. Wash the dishes. Do the laundry. Do nothing and rest! Every minute counts when you're a new mom or dad. Let Dozer give you more time! Dozer will be available online for pre-sales in the coming weeks. Little House Green Grocery is a new kind of neighborhood corner store showcasing the best foods this rich agricultural and artisan area has to offer. Located in the Bellevue neighborhood on Richmond's north side, this grocery is a response to community demand for a fresh food source as well as an additional outlet for local farmers and producers. Owners Jessica and Erin have spent years working on food policy, artisan food production, and cultivating relationships with local vendors. Little House will keep the price of goods competitive by utilizing additional revenue streams (prepared foods, subscription services, and kitchen rental) and will offer a community focus through events and classes. Ultimately, this small model can be made adaptable to other Richmond neighborhoods in need of access to healthy food. Marketing will be through short cooking videos published online, through the store blog and community social media outlets as well as through vendor contacts.

Richmond Young Writers is ready for a permanent home! Our programs introduce young people to the joy of creative writing through workshops taught by professional writers in the community. For the last three years, all after-school programs and summer sessions have been hosted by the ever-generous Chop Suey Books, but as the support and need for our services expand, we find ourselves in need of our own central nook where the wild creativity can keep growing. The vision for our permanent space builds upon our current offerings, including writing samplers, genre-specific workshops, free programs, and a quirky spin on community engagement (think staring contest fundraisers and local biz ping pong battles).
Like San Francisco’s 826 Valencia (http://826valencia.org/), Richmond Young Writers focuses on helping kids develop a dynamic, powerful relationship with words. We reach students ages 8-17 via school systems and community events like our annual write-your-heart-out marathon, and our programs have served hundreds of kids from Richmond, Henrico, Glen Allen, Chesterfield, Midlothian, Montpelier, Powhatan, Moseley, Mechanicsville, Afton, Rockville and Gloucester. We also raise money to provide scholarships so that any and all students can participate.
A permanent space will provide the much-needed platform for Richmond Young Writers to bloom into a full-force writing adventure for kids in central Virginia.

The Richmond Central Business District restaurant that offers a different lunchtime dining experience with emphasis on fresh, healthy and innovative cuisine at a reasonable price. We strive to purchase our products from local purveyors and producers and support community sponsored agriculture. As a bare bones beginning we have had to build slowly. Sometimes things are really hectic and we have to develop solutions on the fly. We hope our continued success will give us the opportunity to realize the potential this business is capable of. So far we have been very successful with our word of mouth campaign. It has been simple, people must love your product and they will tell others.

My name is Sue Murphy, former D1 college coach at TOP TEN women's lacrosse program University of Richmond and USA coach. I have spent so many years recruiting with scholarship to bring young women into higher education to play at the highest of levels in this great sport. But now...I work with young girls grades 1-12 and HELP THEM to find passion and love for this great sport of lacrosse - and we even placed 10 (yes 10) girls into college!! New World Sports touches even more than just girls lacrosse travel teams, youth programs including clinics and camps. We organize and run the same for boys lacrosse and field hockey. We also educate and successfully operate a recruiting service. Our event business brings hundreds and thousands of outside groups to Richmond as we run Southern Lacrosse Cup (tournament for girls), Firecracker Shootout (tournament for boys) as well as smaller events in the Fall & Spring. Our business plan is special in that we utilize an advisory group of high level coaches with USA and college coaching backgrounds to work with the youth of Richmond, consultants and advisors that have a vested interest in their own children to dictate the direction of this new company. Our consumers are young student-athletes grades 1-12 of which, even in a tough economy, their parents want a positive experience through sport. We offer the 'extras' most groups that service this age do not - college recruiting education, video highlights, free skill videos, networking the local coaches with college coaches and on-site free lessons from top notch coaches! This company is about Richmond families. Trust and loyalty...doing the right thing for each and every young participant we touch. I personally travel to youth, middle schools and high schools in the area and provide onsite free instruction, lesson plans for coaches and recruiting seminars for players & families. We drive traffic to our site by providing FREE high end videos that will allow coaches and players to benefit from our skill sessions. It give them a taste of our caliber and then they want more...clinics, camps, service and travel teams. We have seen our numbers grow so much in less than one year...but more importantly we have seen our local families BELIEVE in our service. Having had one year working under SportsQuest in multiple roles including President of Events (April, 2010-June, 2011) I certainly learned a lot about business, good and bad. My partners that I had once crafted there followed me and now are on board with NWS - Marriott, Downtown Athletics, Under Armour, Chic Fil A, Richmond Visitors Bureau, JBS Sport Event Planning, CJW Sports Medicine, CaptainU and local Monarch Productions. Our outreach is not just our website but through the help of our partners' promotions, national and local publications and our narrowed distribution lists. We fortunately have repeat customers and many that are happy to help us with the best form of marketing - word of mouth because they are so happy with the service. I am very PROUD of what we have accomplished in less than one year to impact so many young people and families here in Richmond (and Cville, Fburg and Wburg). Thank you for your consideration...Sue Murphy

Our three online food websites are; www.sympathyfood.com, www.themealstork.com and www.getwellmeal.com. All of our 24 different meal packages are chef prepared, flash frozen and shipped nationwide by FedEx in 1-3 days. We are trying to reach our consumer by SEO and establishing affiliate partnerships with funeral homes, hospitals, hospices, baby registries and HR departments. Flowers have always been a "fall back" type gift to let individuals know you were thinking of them during one of these three life events. A lot of people feel like flowers can be a waste sometimes.
